Right on theme with Halloween on Saturday and this week’s ingredient of Cinnamon is my favourite recipe – Spiced Pumpkin & Sweet Potato Loaf. It’s full of flavour and so versatile – a great breakfast option, snack or addition to a soup or salad. Pumpkin and sweet potato are two of my favourite vegetables to use but I also change it up by using zucchini, carrot or beetroot sometimes, either roasted (per recipe below) or grated. Read on…

Ingredient of the Week: Cinnamon

What is it? A spice that can enhance both sweet & savoury dishes.

Benefits: Balances blood sugar, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-septic, warming & soothing. Great source of potassium, calcium, iron, zinc & magnesium.

Fun fact: Smelling cinnamon stimulates brain activity.

How to: Add to baking, smoothies & teas, delicious on roasted pumpkin. Also great partnered with peanut butter!

A recent episode of one of my favourite podcasts series really resonated with me this week – The Dark Side of Modeling Success on Good Life Project. It explores the idea of looking at other people’s success and back-calculating the path or science to get there, without taking variables into account. The episode uses trading shares without taking into account people’s different approaches to risk.

It got me thinking about how we attempt to “model” other people in so many aspects of life. It’s not limited to our physical appearances and fashion. We often look at other people’s “success” in career, health, relationships, fitness, business… the list goes on and we think we can achieve the same “success” by following their path. The reality is that we are all individual. We have different genes, experiences, wants, needs, perceptions & preferences.  Read on…
