How many times a day do you check your email? Refresh facebook, instagram, twitter or pinterest? Click your phone to check if you have any messages or missed calls? What are you distracting yourself from?

I’ve just spent three days down at the beach trying (and I mean making a concerted effort) to relax. I left my phone on my bedside table while I went for runs & walks along the beach, cooked delicious fresh food, went to the supermarket & spent time with friends. I certainly didn’t go cold turkey but I spent about a 30 minute time slot a day on my phone rather than checking it every 30 minutes. It was refreshing to go into a supermarket without my phone or walk along the beach just enjoying it instead of taking photos. And it’s possible to do this in our daily routine. Read on…

The season of giving is upon us! I really enjoy giving presents that will be bring my close family and friends much happiness, but this year I have a new perspective. During the year I read The Five Languages of Love after it had reappeared as a book suggestion several times. I didn’t jump into with total enthusiasm but was curious, and it has certainly made me consider my relationships differently. The five languages are:
