The season of giving is upon us! I really enjoy giving presents that will be bring my close family and friends much happiness, but this year I have a new perspective. During the year I read The Five Languages of Love after it had reappeared as a book suggestion several times. I didn’t jump into with total enthusiasm but was curious, and it has certainly made me consider my relationships differently. The five languages are:

Ingredient of the Week: Gratitude

My gratitude list

What is it? The acknowledgment of the positive things that come our way but which we did not actively seek or request.

Benefits: Increased positive emotions, abundance, resilience, reduced stress, greater achievement and better relationships.

Fun fact: People who practice gratitude also exercise more.

How to: A gratitude journal, gratitude letter to a person who has positively impacted your life, share 3-5 things you are grateful for each morning or night with someone close, send a simple thank you note or message, replace each ungrateful thought with a grateful one.
